Valheim's Abomination!

By Hammer Dec 28th 2021 at 12:12 pm MST
First encounter with the abomination goes as follows:

Minding my own business while heading to a crypt I hear a horrid sound and turn to see the wretched Abomination and immediately loose my mind. In the grips of fear I run further into the mire. It isn't long before I'm out of stamina and have an entire entourage of beasts itching to snuff out my life essence. Arrows fly and I trudging in deep water take an arrow to the ear and I succumb to my wounds and perish. A 1 star Draouger for the loss.

Then a lengthy naked run to get my gear ensues. After I recover my gear and senses I engage it again and send volleys of fire arrows into the abomination. Thinking that since it looks like mostly tree bits I figure fire should be my best bet. I keep a large amount of impassible brush between me and the cursed root ball. It takes a large volume of arrows with my meager lev 4 fine bow but I finally bring the beast down.

Back at the beach fort I study the recovered Abom bits (like a witcher) and notice the armor gives you resistant vs piercing and weakness vs fire. I feel good with my initial assumption that fire is the beasts only weakness.

The Second encounter:

I head into the swamps once more to get more iron to help fortify my weapons and armor before should I find another one of these wretched creatures when another Abom crawls out from the depths. This time being battle hardened I send volley of arrow as I keep my distance. Moving through the terrain I avoid a flame spout... The wheels inside my caveman brain spin and hum... I should lure the beast overtop of this flame spout and see how well its underside cooks. I switch to sword and board and clinch my cheeks as I rotate it right overtop and watch its animated root madness come to a still lifeless heap.

Hussah! I know the way in witch to carve these creatures up with ease!
